First Day Beach Clean-up

Kick-off 2022 on the right foot with a beach clean-up!

Every year, NH Parks & Recreation hosts First Day Hikes in state parks across NH. Different state parks are chosen each year, and Hampton’s Main Beach was chosen for 2022!

From 12 – 3 pm on January 1st, you can take a self-guided hike along the beach or boardwalk. Refreshments and free NH State Parks merch will be available for those who register. Register for the Hampton Beach First Day Hike here. Check-in at the Seashell from 12-2.

We are excited to host a beach clean-up during the Hampton Beach First Day Hike! Meet at the Seashell Complex at 1 pm. We provide all supplies, just wear some gloves that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty and running through the wash after. Please register for the First Day Beach Clean-up on our website. Registration will close when capacity of 50 people is reached.

Can’t make it at 1 pm? Stop by the Seashell Complex anytime between 12 and 2 pm to borrow clean-up supplies and join the fight for a clean ocean on your schedule! If you plan to clean the beach on January 1st anytime during the First Day Hike, please also register for the Hampton First Day Hike through the Parks & Recreation website.

Blue Ocean Society volunteers collected over 14,000 cigarette butts during beach clean-ups in 2021. Many of us know that cigarette butts are one of the top debris items found on Hampton’s Main Beach. Help us kick off 2022 with a big clean-up of this popular and historically significant beach!
