Locally, harbor seals can be sighted most frequently at the Isles of Shoals or along the shore of the Merrimack River.  They are most prevalent during the Fall, Winter and Spring, and can be most easily seen at low tide, when they are hauled out on the rocks.  At high tide, the seals are usually in the water, foraging for their food.
