Activity 1: Make your own whale!
We can tell humpback whales
apart by the patterns on the underside of their tail. Humpback tails are
like our fingerprints - they're different for every whale. Each whale had
a pattern on it's tail which is all white, all black, or somewhere in
between. Here are some examples:

Scientists give each whale a name to make it
easier to remember them. The name usually describes a marking on the
whale's tail, or fluke. "Marble"
was named because of a round circle on his tail that looks like a marble.
"Fan" was named because of a fan-shaped mark on its tail.
