Volunteer Information Session, May 3

Volunteer on whale watch boat

Are your friends and family sick of hearing you talk about the ocean?

Do you spend your free time wading around in tide pools?

Want to help with a unique research project?

We have a volunteer opportunity for you!

Join us on Wednesday, May 3 for a Volunteer Information Session at the Portsmouth Public Library! We’ll share information about our summer volunteer opportunities, which include helping aboard whale watches, sharing your knowledge at our Blue Ocean Discovery Center, helping with school programs, and conducting research through our microplastics sampling project!

Our volunteer opportunities provide a great opportunity to share your enthusiasm for the marine environment with people from all over the world, and to help in our unique research.  Volunteers should be outgoing and passionate about the ocean and its protection.  Background knowledge about local marine life is helpful, but training and a detailed handbook are provided.

Whale watch and Blue Ocean Discovery Center volunteers must be able to commit to a regular schedule of at least 4-5 hours/week during the summer.  Microplastics sampling occurs at varied times from May through October, we will set sampling dates in early May.

The Volunteer Information Session will be held at 6:30 PM in the Levenson Community Room at the Portsmouth Public Library.  Please RSVP so we know how many people to expect. Hope to see you there!
