DIY Dog Toy!

If you have an old t-shirt and a bored puppy, this week’s #TipTuesday is for you! Take your old t-shirt and repurpose it as a toy for your pup. This is easy, requires no sewing and your pet will surely appreciate it!

Materials Needed:

  • Old T-shirt
  • Scissors
  • Ball (tennis ball or any other dog-approved ball)
  1. Take your old t-shirt (I used an old Fred Flintstone costume t-shirt) and lay it out flat. Cut it into a square by cutting off the arms and neck. Also cut down the sides so you have two large squares. Keep a long scrap for later use.

2. Take the ball and place it in the middle of the two squares. If your dog is anything like mine at this point you will have to take the ball away from her to finish your project. Place the ball in the middle and tie the t-shirts with the long scrap at the bottom (see photo below). I tied it around several times double knotting it at the end and cut the remaining fabric off.

3. Next cut the bottom fabric into long strips. Some will be of different lengths- that’s okay. Once you cut the fabric into strips, start braiding! (Make sure your dog holds it for you to make it a bit easier ☺) I finished each braid by tying the fabric in a knot.

4. Cut off the excess fabric once you’re done braiding from the end of each strip. That’s all! Give it to your dog to play with! Always be sure to supervise your dog while playing with homemade toys.

Disclaimer: Always supervise your pet when letting them play with homemade toys. Immediately take the toy away if they start to chew/swallow any pieces or break the toy apart. Blue Ocean is not responsible for any injuries caused by following our dog toy tutorial.
