baitfish!
Owl was also seen on northern Jeffreys Ledge by one of our affiliate boats in May
2006.
She was also seen in 2005. At one point in the season, she fascinated us by open-mouth
feeding right near the whale watch boats!

northern Jeffreys Ledge.
Spring 2008: Pinball was seen by a fellow researcher this winter in Turks

Atlantic
White-Sided Dolphin

Stripes: August 2007: We have seen large dolphin pods
very regularly this month, and they have been very active. We've been witnessing
some high leaps and lots of lob-tailing! June 2007 update: We've seen a few pods of
Atlantic white-sided dolphins already this season. This is different from 2006,
which was an unusual season as we didn't see any dolphin pods until late summer!

Sunfish

August 2007: Sightings of ocean sunfish
have been on the increase this month! We've seen several sunfish over the past few
years, with 14 total sightings in 2005. Sunny is still out there!

Basking
Sharks

2007: We saw many basking sharks this
spring, but sightings were rare in July and August. This year has been a good year for
basking sharks so far, with several sharks already seen in summer 2006.
In 2005, we saw 15 basking sharks,
including Gills. Basking sharks were plentiful in 2004,
especially earlier in the season. We saw 45 sharks total, and got
some great looks at Gills at his friends as they fed near the water
surface!
