Marine Debris Lesson Plans

We have been working with University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension and NH Sea Grant with funding from the New Hampshire Coastal Program and NOAA Marine Debris Program to create an interactive site that teaches visitors about the potential impacts of marine debris.

The web site integrates whale sightings and pelagic litter sightings collected by Blue Ocean Society scientists and interns from commercial whale watching vessels out of Rye, NH, Hampton, NH and Newburyport, MA. We have also created lesson plans and an accompanying slide show to help students learn about whales, how scientists study whales and our impacts on the oceans. Students will also hopefully be inspired to take actions to help the marine environment.
